SIA has a broad management team across Australia which combines to provide many decades of experience is sustainable solution delivery across all sectors of the economy.

Anthony Truman

Anthony Truman is one of Australia’s most experienced environmental engineers with over four decades of expertise in all levels of emission control, from monitoring and assessment through to design and supply of treatment equipment. Tony has extensive experience in the field of air quality and has undertaken in excess of 70 air quality projects for the chemical/process, manufacturing, petrochemical, metals and waste industry throughout Australia and the Asia Pacific.

Tony also has extensive water and waste water experience pioneering treatment technologies and developing applications for industrial and municipal water throughout Asia and Australia for Thames Water. Tony has also delivered a range of solutions for the remediation of chemical, petrochemical and mine sites as well as providing an integral role in the design of leading emission treatment equipment. 

In addition Tony has played a pivotal role in waste management having either designed or provided technical support to most of Australia’s hazardous waste treatment facilities. Tony has a strong background and history of working with EPA and regulators both in representation of clients, regulators and provides legal witness services.Tony has also been a senior lecturer at RMIT in Environmental process engineering (chemical engineers), Chemical engineering design,  Fate and transport of pollutants and Environmental law and policy (EMS and standards including ISO 14000 series).

Geoff Latimer

Geoff Latimer has over two decades of experience in the environment sector both in commercial and Governement roles. Recognised as a pioneer of Australia's National Pollutant Inventory (NPI) community right to know legislation in the late 90's, Geoff has worked closely with businesses across Australia ranging from heavy industrials to SME's in both compliance and collaborative roles.

Geoff's experience in carbon management is extensive, having established EPA's climate change policy and advisory capacity in his 10 years there. As an experienced carbon professional Geoff has dealt with all levels of strategy, policy and advisory services and has played a high profile role nationally in developing Australia's carbon market.

As National General Manager of SIA Geoff plays a critical role in ensuring clients receive high value outcomes and strategic advice.

Stephen Thompson

Stephen Thompson is the founding member of SIA and has extensive experience in delivering sustainable outcomes for industry and Government. Stephen has worked throughout Australia and overseas in the areas of business development, infrastructure development, consulting, compliance and government strategy. Stephen is an experienced consultant with significant capability in the fields of energy, solid waste and infrastructure. In the energy sector Stephen has played a critical role in the development of renewable power generation such as wind generation, mini-hydro, landfill gas and biomass plants.

Stephen has played a key role in promoting and implementing sustainability practices for industry and Government across Australia including reform of  policy as well as the development of landmark energy and waste infrastructure projects. Stephen has also worked in alliance partnerships with many of Australia’s  key infrastructure, environmental and engineering firms to achieve sustainable reform.


Greg Barns

Greg Barns is a Principal of SIA and has an extensive background in the Mining Industry. As CEO of the Australian Gold Council Greg undertook a number of initiatives to develop improved industry standards and greater sustainability within the Gold industry. He is also an adviser to a number of companies in Australia on infrastructure and sustainability.

Greg was a senior political adviser to former NSW Premier Nick Greiner, Tasmanian Premier Ray Groom and from 1996-99 he was Chief of Staff to Federal Finance Minister John Fahey. Greg was also a consultant to the Melbourne based Tasman Economic Research in 1991-1993.

Greg undertakes work as a columnist for Australian media such as The Age, Sydney Morning Herald, Hobart Mercury, The Australian, Gold & Minerals Gazette, Resource Stocks as well as regular commentary appearances on radio and TV. Greg also writes for numerous NZ, UK, US, Canadian and South African newspapers.


Ian Darling

Ian Darling is a senior associate at SIA and a representative on the Tasmanian State Environment Industry Council. Ian Darling has had an extensive career in developing the resource recovery and waste management industry in Australia.

From an early background of establishing environmental best practise water infrastructure in the Pacific Islands, Ian focussed on delivering first class Waste Management solutions and infrastructure for industry and Local Government around Australia.

This has seen the development of recycling programs, infrastructure and resource recovery facilities in Queensland, NSW and Tasmania from community projects to large scale commercial facilities. Ian has also had extensive background and experience with EPA management, community consultation and playing an important role in reform of waste management in Australia.


Stewart Prins

Stewart is a communications specialist with significant expertise in transport and sustainability currently fullfilling the role as National Manager of Transport for the industry group Tourism and Transport Forum (TTF). Stewart is a senior associate at SIA and has over a decade’s experience in government, industry and the media. 

Stewart has been a senior adviser to the Tasmanian and Victorian State Governments, where his credits include working as speech writer to the late Tasmanian Premier Jim Bacon. After cutting his journalistic teeth with the Mercury newspaper in Hobart, Stewart served as Media Adviser to a number of Tasmanian Government Ministers including former Treasurer David Crean and Deputy Premier David Llewellyn. Stewart also has considerable experience in policy development, specifically in the fields of regional development and sustainable transport.

As Public Transport Adviser to former Victorian Transport Minister Peter Batchelor, Stewart was heavily involved in framing the Victorian Government’s $10.5 billion Meeting Our Transport Challenges Action Plan, which was heavily focused on public transport initiatives.

Kevin Dillon

Kevin Dillon has over two decades of experience in senior commercial roles both in marketing and communications. With a Masters Degree in Environmental Science (Monash University), Kevin plays a strategic role in assisting organisations develop approaches to all levels of sustainability and communication strategy. This includes advisory roles in Carbon, compliance, marketing, internal communication and issue management.

Kevin has extensive Australian and international experience in both the IT and Internet industries. This experience includes eight years in Silicon Valley (USA) in senior marketing and technology roles at Juniper Networks, Bay Networks and Nortel. In more recent times Kevin has played a strategic industry role bringing international stakeholders together by forming and driving the IPsphere Forum. Kevin brings a wealth of national and international corporate experience to the SIA management team that assists organisations in achieving strategic high level outcomes
